چکیده

Introduction Ameloblastoma is an uncommon epithelial odontogenic neoplasm that is nonmineralized, locally aggressive and in most cases it is benign. Ameloblastoma accounts for approximately 10% of all tumors that originate in the maxilla and mandible. It often presents as a slow growing, painless swelling, causing expansion of the cortical bone, perforation of the lingual and/or buccal plates and infiltration of soft tissue. There is often delay in the diagnosis because of its slow-growing nature. Ameloblastoma of the jaws is the most commonly encountered odontogenic tumour in Africa and Asia 6,7 but the second most common odontogenic tumour in North and South America.

Acanthomatous Ameloblastoma of Mandible

Ameloblastomas are an enigmatic group of oral tumors. The name implies a resemblance to cells of the enamel-forming organ. The general agreement that ameloblastomas are odontogenic in origin occurs largely on the basis of the histologic similarities of the tumor and the developing enamel organ. Ameloblastomas show wide morphological spectra and may pose diagnostic difficulties. Of the many type...

Acanthomatous ameloblastoma- a case report.

Ameloblastomas are locally aggressive jaw tumors with a high propensity for recurrence that are believed to arise from remnants of odontogenic epithelium, lining of odontogenic cysts and basal layer of overlying oral mucosa. They can occur in either the maxilla or mandible at nearly any age but most frequently are discovered as a painless expansion in the mandible of patients in their 20s-40s. ...

Nuclear morphometry in canine acanthomatous ameloblastomas and squamous cell carcinomas.

The aim of this study was to evaluate whether morphometrical analysis can be of diagnostic value for canine acanthomatous ameloblastoma. We calculated, by means of an automated image analyser, some morphometric nuclear parameters, in particular: mean nuclear area (MNA), mean nuclear perimeter (MNP), maximum and minimum diameters (MDx and MDm) coefficient of variation of the nuclear area (NACV),...

The use of rim excision as a treatment for canine acanthomatous ameloblastoma.

This study reviews rim excision as a treatment for canine acanthomatous ameloblastomas (CAA) in dogs with <3 mm of bone involvement. Removal of a canine tooth was involved in 47% of the cases; 33% cases involved the caudal dentition. Follow-up ranged from 3 months to 5 years. No evidence of recurrence was seen. Client satisfaction with cosmesis and the animal's ability to masticate was judged t...
